Art & Fitness

Mum was very passionate about art and absolutely loved to draw and paint using watercolors mainly. A lot of her inspiration came from two artists, Lowry & Bruegel. These two artists were Mum's favorite.  For many years mum attended art classes in Worthing. This was a big hobby of hers, also a very good opportunity to catch up with friends over a cup of tea once or twice a week. One of my favourite memories  was when mum visited me at east beach studios on her scooter while I was working. We sat outside the gallery, chatting and laughing with the artists, eating homemade sandwiches (salmon & cucumber) prepared by Mum, while watching the world go by.

Another lovely memory was when we used to go for long walks together along the promenade. Well I say walks, Mum would be on her scooter and I was power walking to keep up!
The good news was that Mum had become my personal trainer! On average I would clock up 13,000 steps a day to keep up with her. It was the best workout for both of us! Mum got some sea air and I burned off some calories.
Thankfully we would always stop for an ice cream or doughnuts. Which defeated my calorie burning.  But who can resist the smell of fresh cooked doughnuts, It was one of Mum's favorite treats to be honest, so it had to be done.

Nothing was going to stop Mum from getting out and about in her retirement years. She really did make the most of her later years with the scooter, riding to one of her favourite restaurants for lunch.
Thank you Mum for the fitness training. I miss our walks together X
Much love Angie X
